Smith County Bar Association Mentor Program Guidelines

This program is intended to assist new lawyers and lawyers new to Smith County with their transition into practicing law in Smith County in order that they may build new professional relationships and develop the knowledge of local practices and procedures to be successful in this legal community.

How This Program Works:

A new lawyer or “Mentee” will be paired with a Mentor.

The Mentor Program Committee will pair the Mentee and Mentor based on the applications submitted and practice areas.

This program is not intended to be an employment networking opportunity and should not be treated as such.

Any communication or advice given during the course of a mentoring relationship is merely an opinion and should not be construed as legal advice and should not be relied upon when handling a specific matter for a client.

The Mentor agrees to act in good faith and in a professional manner.

The Mentee agrees not to reveal any client’s confidential information to the Mentor.

Either the Mentor or Mentee may terminate the relationship at any time, and if requested, may be paired with a new Mentor or Mentee.
